About the Owner

Genie’s Drapery Service is owned and operated by Genie Prentiss Craggs. Genie is carrying on a family tradition lasting over four generations. Genie’s great grandfather, C. Prentiss, originally opened a business that sold draperies on King Street in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Genie has carried on the family tradition by opening her own drapery business. Genie opened Genie's Drapery Service in 1983. Since that time, Genie’s Drapery Service has been recognized in Good Housekeeping, Southern Living and other publications. Her services are used by both professional and DIY interior decorators. Although her business name implies just draperies, she designs custom window treatments and other interior decoration accessories. She provides service primarily for the Tri-county area: Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester, South Carolina. Genie’s Drapery Service has provided service for clients from out of state. She has completed jobs in Virginia, Connecticut, and the Island of St. Kitts.
